Lily; © reserved 2009, Richard Lovison
This lily was hidden from view behind all the foliage in our garden. For some reason this plant grew much smaller with less blossoms than last year. I usually don’t pick any flowers from the garden but since this one most likely would not have been seen and enjoyed by anyone I thought I would take it inside to photograph it.
It was placed near an open window with a black coat hung behind the subject to provide a background color. It was rather late in the afternoon with little light coming into the room so the exposure at f16 and ISO 100 was 15 seconds.

Great color, perspective. Black coat, hmm – great backdrop!
What a stunning image. Love how the black offsets the color and detail. Wonderful!!!
Beautiful color, detail, composition and background, Richard. I think I could use the word “nit” here but there is a tiny white spot in the black in the UL. It could easily be cloned out.
Thanks Ed for pointing out the flaw… I took care of it.
