This was an image taken last year with a solarisation technique applied. No, her eyes are not really purple.

A different approach was taken this morning. A lighter background was utilized and the camera was backed off from the subject. Soft window light provided illumination.

During our afternoon walk I came upon a wildflower that had gone to seed. It was very similar looking to a dandelion that goes to seed, only bigger. I took some photos out in the field with my wife holding the stem to keep it steady in the wind and I also decided to take one home to play with in a studio environment.

The above image was one result of a few taken at home. The setup and procedure were not complex. The transformed flower was put in a vase with a greenish-blue background suspended behind using window light. It was a 6 second exposure (there wasn’t much light) at f8 using a tripod and the Vivitar Series 1 Macro. The image was slightly cropped with a WB adjustment, a bit of saturation added and sharpening applied.

I felt like trying something different by toying with a couple of the Nik filters. The final result was a mixture of Glamor Glow and Duplex.
