During our afternoon walk I came upon a wildflower that had gone to seed. It was very similar looking to a dandelion that goes to seed, only bigger. I took some photos out in the field with my wife holding the stem to keep it steady in the wind and I also decided to take one home to play with in a studio environment.
The above image was one result of a few taken at home. The setup and procedure were not complex. The transformed flower was put in a vase with a greenish-blue background suspended behind using window light. It was a 6 second exposure (there wasn’t much light) at f8 using a tripod and the Vivitar Series 1 Macro. The image was slightly cropped with a WB adjustment, a bit of saturation added and sharpening applied.
This is another flower image created with the use of CombineZP to give the depth of field presented. The final image was the result of a merge of five separate images. The flowers are extremely small… about a half inch in length and less than a quarter inch in width.
